PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

* Program is discontinued from 2026 The two years M.Sc. (Mathematics) program from Department of Mathematics under the banner of the School of Basic Sciences, The Assam Kaziranga University is being divided into 4 semesters comprising 85 credits in all. The programme has been designed to equip the students with theoretical knowledge as well as problem solving techniques such that they get exposure to both industry and academia. In addition to coursework, students have the opportunity to work individually on a research project supervised by highly experienced faculty members. Such collaboration often culminates in the publication of one or more research articles. Extensive focus is also given for preparing such students through NET, GATE, SLET, TET and various other competitive examinations so that students who desire to pursue higher studies in National/International Universities get such opportunities.

Growth prospects

Special focus is given on the preparation of various national or international competitive examinations like CSIR-NET/GATE/SLET/GRE/TET/Banking etc. This will help the students aspiring to pursue higher studies in various national/international universities/institutes. The Department also focus on producing skilful manpower by introducing some employable courses in master’s programme, especially in the field of data analytics and information technology. Students from the Department of Mathematics are well placed in various government/non-government/multinational organizations and many of them are pursing higher studies in various reputed universities/institutes.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must fulfil the following norms.

  • At least 45% marks with Mathematics as the Major (40% in case of SC/ST category) OR At least 50% marks in the subject (Mathematics) and 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST category) in case of general course students.
