National Thematic Workshop on Advances in Nanostructured Materials Applications and Perspectives (ANMAP) 2016 at Kaziranga University

Kaziranga University hosted the National Thematic Workshop on Advances in Nanostructured Materials: Applications and Perspectives (ANMAP) 2016 for the first time in collaboration with UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Kolkata Centre. The 2 days workshop conducted on June 1 and June 2, 2016 was held at the Assam Kaziranga University, Jorhat. The inaugural ceremony witnessed the gracious presence of Dr. PK Mishra, President NEKF; Dr. Sunil Rai Vice- Chancellor Kaziranga University; Dr. AK Sinha, Director UGC-DAE CSR; Prof. D Ramaiah, Director NEIST; Dr. D Das, Centre Director UGC-DAE CSR, Kolkata centre; Prof. Arun Chattopadhyay, Professor IIT Guwahati; Prof. P K Iyer, IIT Guwahati; Dr. R C Baruah, Emeritus Scientist, NEIST Jorhat; Dr. D Dutta, Chief Scientist, NEIST Jorhat ; Prof. S K Bhattacharjee, Kaziran University; Prof. AK Pal Jadavpur University; Prof S K Dey, IACS Kolkata; Prof. Jayanta K Sharma, Convenor, ANMAP-2016, Dean School of Basic Sciences KU; Dr. Souvik Chatterjee, UGC-DAE CSR, Kolkata centre; Dr. Amar Jyoti Goswami, Dean School of Engineering & Technology of the University along with invited dignitaries, guests, faculty, staffs and students from different universities and institutions of the country. The inaugural session saw Dr. Sunil Rai addressing the gathering with his welcome speech. While the vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Jayanta K Sharma, Convenor, ANMAP-2016, Dean School of Basic Sciences KU. The 2 days workshop was a package of series of talks by invited speakers and scientists from UGC-DAE CSR and many other universities and research centres of India. Seminar presentations on Nano Technology and related field saw participation from organizations like UGC-DAE CSR – (Koktala Centre, Mumbai centre, Indore Centre, Kalpakkam Node), Indian Association for Cultivation of Science (IACS)- Kolkata, Jadavpur University, IIT Guwahati, Tezpur University, Pune University, Dibrugarh University, NEIST Jorhat, Rajiv Gandhi University Arunachal Pradesh, IASST Guwahati and Kaziranga University. A poster presentation on Nano Technology and related fields of study was also held on June2, 2016 as a part of the national workshop. Dr. A Saha of UGC-DAE CSR Kolkata Centre praised the organizing committee during the valedictory session for holding this workshop. 216 participants from different universities and research institutes across India participated in the workshop which included faculties, research scholars, PG students. This national event aims at bringing scientists and industrial experts together to spread fundamental knowledge and technological developments and advances in applications and the future directions of nano structured materials in order to explore and create new products, technologies and services into the markets. The Assam This workshop provided an ideal platform to the researchers, academicians, engineers, as well as industry professionals in order to interact and exchange new ideas, present their findings and have intellectual deliberations on emerging trends of nanosciences. The workshop paved the way for different institutes and researchers to have collaborative research proposals with UGC-DAE CSR in areas of common interest.
