THE WORLD HEALTH DAY: April 7 is celebrated and observed as World Health Day. The day is celebrated annually in accordance with the World Health Organization's aim to discuss health-related issues and to draw attention to specific health issues concerning people across the world. The first World Health Day was celebrated and observed in 1950. The World Health Day is celebrated every year to raise awareness about the ongoing health issues that concern people across the world. The day is also used as an opportunity to spread awareness about the overall health and well-being of people.
The School of Health Sciences, The Assam Kaziranga University, Jorhat, Assam observed and celebrated The World Health Day on the 6th and 7th of April 2022 by students who organized orientated competitions and events such as the Inter-Departmental Poster Competition, Extempore Speech Competition, Free Health Camp and Inaugural and Cultural Program.
Competitions and Events:
- Inter-Departmental Poster Competition: The competition was held on 6th April 2022 where three (3) student representatives of the different departments under the School of Health Sciences presented and showcase their creativity through their posters.
- Extempore Speech: The competition was held on 6th April 2022 where students actively participated individually and delivered their allotted random topics.
- Inaugural Program: The program was held on 7th April 2022 at the BOS Auditorium, The Assam Kaziranga University, Jorhat, Assam. The program was graced with the presence of Dr. P.K.Mishra, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor (KU), Dr. A. Srihari Krishna, Registrar (KU), the respected Deans of the different Schools of the Assam Kaziranga University, and the Chief Guest Dr. Dipjyoti Bora, MBBS, MD (Psychiatry), Registrar, Department of Psychiatry, Jorhat Medical College and Hospital where he delivered a speech on The importance of mental health in young adults in post Covid world.
