The School of Social Science, Assam Kaziranga University organised a one day workshop on the theme "Young Warriors – Role of Youth in Social Change" collaborating with "WAY Foundation" on 8^th June, 2021. The key speaker was Mr. Sanjib Singha who is a youth programme facilitator at WAY (We Are Young) Foundation. Mr Singha has been working with WAY for the last 2 years. He has also worked with UNICEF as a knowledge partner and has volunteered with non-profit and UN agencies such as UNDP.

Delivering his presentation on the above mentioned topic, Mr. Singha highlighted the significant aspects and role of youngsters - how young people are demonstrating their leadership in their communities and throughout the countries. He also highlighted how the young generation, particularly some of the youngsters, are working as frontline health workers and communicators to ensure that the voice of the youth is a part of the solutions for a healthier, safer and gender equal world during this on-going pandemic situation.

He also discussed how mental health can impact one's physical health and vice versa. Emphasis was given on how to promote mental health and how young people can contribute to minimise the tension by learning and amplifying medically accurate and e-based evidence information, clarifying myths and misconceptions, eliminating vaccine hesitancy and promoting appropriate behaviours, linking people to health centre, testing centres and verified help lines, facilitating safe spaces for young people to seek informational, psychosocial support etc. during this difficult situation caused by Covid-19.  The session was also centred on with the role of "Young Warrior Movement"– A Pan-India Movement to combat Covid-19 by "YUVAAH" and vaccination procedure.

The session was quite interactive where the speaker had given an interesting task to the participants named "How to identify a Fake News". The students wholeheartedly participated in this activity and the speaker also suggested few steps regarding how to be aware of fake news and create awareness among people regarding not to spread any social-media posts or fake news, not to believe in news blindly, but to trust only verified sources or links from WHO, UNICEF, MoFHW.

The workshop was very engaging and productive for the students of social work. It will certainly help the students to build the sense of responsible citizen in them. A total no of 75 students including faculties actively participated in the webinar.
