The Induction programme for the new students was conducted on 17th and 18th August 2017. The Chief Guests for the occasion were Dr. Mukul Chandra Bora, Director, Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering and Technology, and renowned entrepreneur Jahnabi Phookan. Dr. Mukul Chandra Bora completed his B.E Civil Engineering from Dibrugarh University, M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur and PhD from IIT, Guwahati and has had first hand experience of both industry and academic life. Ms. Phookan is the Director of Jungle Travels India and Assam Bengal Navigation Company, both National Tourism Award winning travel companies. An alumna of the US Government Exchange Program, she was one of the ten representatives from India in the South East Asian Entrepreneurship Symposium in Dhaka in Feb 2013 . In 2007, Ms Phookan was one of the founder members of FLO (FICCI Ladies Organization) Northeast and Chairperson in 2008. Ms. Phookan was also awarded among the 30 Outstanding Women Achievers in the FLO network to commemorate the 30 years of FLO’s existence. Founder Chairperson of the IWN (India Women Network) of CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), she is presently the co-chair of CII Assam Council. Along with a partner, she introduced Fabindia into the Northeast in 2008 with two Fabindia stores in Guwahati and Dibrugarh. Jahnabi is also the Director of the family-owned Baruanagar Tea Estates Pvt Ltd., Baruakhat Tea Company and Konyak Tea. Ms Phookan is a graduate of Calcutta University, post-graduate from Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) and alumna of Indiana University, USA.
