World Optometry Day is celebrated on 23rd March of every year, Worldwide. Department of Optometry, School of Health Science, The Assam Kaziranga University also celebrated this Day with a weekday long program.
During this week Department of Optometry has celebrated the World Optometry Day with various programs, new innovative ideas to create a mass awareness among the society as well as the students.
During this week following programs were organized and performed by the Department of Optometry, SHS, KU.
- The event was inaugurated on 23rd March, 2022 with the theme "Your Vision and Our Mission" in the School of Health Science, at 10:00am. The event was marked with a success through the active participation of students where the events like Rally and Street Act was organized.
- Optometry students has performed a street act and rally within the University Premises to create about the importance of Optometrists in the Community Health Care Sector and Eradication of preventable blindness.
- Poster Making Competition was organized where a total number of 16 students of Department of Optometry has participated
- Students has demonstrated a model in the Vision of the Eye Structure Demonstration
- A Valedictory program was organized on 28th March, 2022. The chief guest of the Program was Mrs. Mayuri Deka, Head and Academic-In Charge of Ridley College of Optometry, Jorhat , where Honourable Registrar of The Assam Kaziranga University alongwith Associate Dean School of Health Science and the Deans of various Schools of The Assam Kaziranga University and faculty and students of all the departments of School of Health Sciences were present on the auspicious occasion.
- During this occasion on 28th March, 2022 a Guest Lecture was organized on the topic "Recent Innovations in the field of Optometry". The lecture was delivered by Mrs. Mayuri Deka, Head and Academic-In Charge of Ridley College of Optometry, Jorhat
- A Quiz Competition was organized among the students of the Optometry Department where 20 Students has participated.
- A cultural program was held show casing the young talents of the Optometry Students with diverse culture and ethnicity.
- Towards the end of the programme, The Chief Guest and the Associate Dean of School of Health Science has distributed the prizes to the winners for various events organized by the Optometry Department
