The School of Social Sciences, The Assam Kaziranga University organized a workshop on "Necessity of Fieldwork in Social Work on 30th June 2021. The key speaker of the workshop was Ms. Archana Borthakur who is a social activist from Assam, and the founder of Priyobondhu – an NGO dedicated to the pursuit of community development and social change. Ms. Borthakur has also known for her dedicated service to society in the form of a donation of unused clothes, foods, books, and household tools to the underprivileged.
The workshop focused on some of the important key points related to the necessity of fieldwork in social work in a detailed manner. The speaker spoke about the importance of fieldwork, how fieldwork helps in creating serious social workers with a better understanding of the existing social problems followed by effective intervention. It was an interactive session where students had interacted with the speaker and had practical experience about the necessity of fieldwork in social work.
A total of 60 plus students participated in the workshop. The workshop was a successful one; it will definitely help our students to approach fieldwork with much more enthusiasm and practicality.
