National Science Day Organized on 27-28 February 2023 By School of Health Sciences & School of Basic Sciences

Every year on February 28 to honor the discovery of the "Raman Effect," National Science Day is honored. The eminent Indian scientist CV Raman received the Nobel Prize in 1930 for creating the "Raman Effect" on this day. In 1954, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna by the Indian government. C.V. Raman, also known as Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, was one of India's most well-known and prominent physicists. He made a significant contribution to the field of physics, particularly in the field of scatter light, which laid the groundwork for numerous other research projects that were carried out subsequently.

The School of Health Sciences in collaboration with School of Basic Sciences, The Assam Kaziranga University, planned to organize and celebrate the National Science Day from 27-28th February, 2023, as every year on February 28, there is a Nation-wide celebration called "National Science Day" that celebrates the value of science in society. It also emphasizes the necessity of involving the general public including students in discussions of cutting-edge scientific issues along with its importance. Meanwhile “Global Science for Global Wellbeing” was the focus of National Science Day on 27-28th Feb, 2023. Basically the program was conducted to link science more closely with students and society. Whereas National Science Day for aims to ensure that students are kept informed of developments in science in the recent days.  It also underscores the role scientists play in broadening our understanding of our planet and in making our societies more sustainable. The day highlights the significant role of science in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues. It also underlines the importance and relevance of science in our daily lives. The day is also commemorated in the hopes of raising awareness about how we can make our planet more sustainable.

A variety of extracurricular programmes and activities was done as part of its enterprise to educate pupils on social, cultural, and ethical issues. Along with it, a variety of other events were planned to promote global science for global well being, including quiz competitions, wall magazine competition, documentaries and power point presentations. Students from various courses and departments were seen to participating enthusiastically in these events. We celebrated the day to create and raise awareness about the overall Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development across the world.

The main key points of the program is as follows – 

Basic objectives - To propagate the message of the importance of science and its application and importance among the students

2023 theme - Global Science for Global Wellbeing

Medium/source – Executing School wise wall magazine and quiz competition including documentaries and science experiments.

 

Total number of participants

A total number of approximately 550 students from various departments actively participated in various programmes throughout and made the program successful. The attendace list for the same is attached separately along with this file.
