The School of Social Sciences, in collaboration with the NSS Unit and Women Cell, organized a Cloth Donation Drive on 8th November 2025 at Socklatinga Tea Garden. The initiative aimed to extend support to underprivileged families residing in the tea garden area by providing them with essential clothing items and spreading awareness about community service and social responsibility.

The primary objective of the Cloth Donation Drive was to extend support to economically weaker families by providing them with usable clothing and other essential items. The event also aimed to promote the values of social responsibility, empathy, and community service among students, encouraging them to actively participate in social welfare initiatives. Furthermore, the drive sought to strengthen collaboration between educational institutions and local community organizations, fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual understanding for the betterment of society.

The Cloth Donation Drive received strong support and cooperation from All Assam Tea Tribe Students’ Association, All Assam Tea Tribe Women Association, Asom Chah Mazdoor Sangha, The Ward Members of the area, and the teachers of Socklatinga School. Together with the support of Dean School of Social Sciences, Dr Sumita Sarkar, Associate Dean Ms Bandana Thakur, all faculty members and students of Social Sciences, NSS coordinators and volunteers, Women Cell members and volunteers, the Cloth Donation Drive was a great success, reflecting the true spirit of collaboration and community service.

Dr Saurabhi Sarmah, Associate professor and Director Student Welfare coordinated the drive on behalf of Assam kaziranga university.
