National Conference on Inclusive and Sustainable Development for Self-Reliant India

The school of social sciences, The Assam Kaziranga University organised  a two day National Conference on “Inclusive and Sustainable Development for Self Reliant India” on 29th and 30th of March, 2023 at the university premises in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ( ONGC). 

The conference was designed in line with the theme of India’s G20 presidency – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” with an objective to create a platform for the academicians, research scholars, representatives of Civil Society Organizations/NGOs and students of various institutions across the country to discuss matters related to the initiatives taken by the Government, Civil Society Organizations and the Private Sector in making India self- reliant and sustainable.

The conference invited eminent academicians from ICSSR, JNU, Indian Institute of Bank Management, Council of Analytical Tribal Studies Odisha, Action aid India, UNESCO Association etc. to participate in this conference.

The inaugural ceremony of the conference was attended by eminent dignitaries from across the region including  Professor Bhagirathi panda, Honorary Director, ICSSR, Northeast Regional Office Shillong, Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia, Vice chancellor, Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, Prof. Abhijit Sharma, Professor, Indian Institute of Bank Management, Guwahati, Prof. Veera Talukdar registrar, The Assam Kaziranga University, Prof. Braja Sundar Mishra ,Professor, Council of Analytical Tribal Studies, Odisha and Prof. Shanghamitra Sheel Acharya, Professor JNU, New Delhi who joined the conference virtually.

A total of forty plus participants including   noted academicians, entrepreneurs,and  researchers  coming in from different institutions across the  state and the  country  participated and presented research papers and   exchanged their  thoughts and ideas regarding making India self-reliant and sustainable from diversified angles and perspectives. There had been four parallel l technical sessions scheduled on 30th March  which included sessions like - Government, NGOs and CBOs in inclusive and sustainable development; Digital Transformation, Economic social and environmental sustainability for self reliance India; Women in Self Reliance India; Inclusive & sustainable development for self reliance in line with the SDGs. The conference was convened by Dr Aditya Bhatta, Associate dean, School of Social Sciences, and it  came to a successful conclusion with the support received from the university management, faculty members, students and participants.
