National Seminar on Ethnopharmacology for Bioeconomy

It is immense pleasure to share that students and faculty members of School of Pharmacy, The Assam Kaziranga University has presented their innovative and novel research works in the National Seminar on Ethnopharmacology for Bioeconomy: The New Paradigm, organised by CSIR- North-East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat, SFE- Jorhat Local Chapter, in association with Society for Ethnopharmacology, India, on 28th -30th November 2023. 

Rajesh E Jesudasan, Professor and Dean, School of Pharmacy, The Assam Kaziranga University presented a paper titled” Alarming rise of anaemia among women and children in northeast India”. During his discourse he emphasised on need for a paradigm shift in approaching health challenges, promoting an inclusive bio-economy that integrates traditional wisdom with modern scientific advancements.

Anilkumar Adimulapu, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy, The Assam Kaziranga University presented paper titled  “A Concise Research on Oral pH Independent Controlled Drug Delivery System: Current Status and Future Directions”. During the presentation he has emphasised on Phytosome, a key strategy to improve stability and bioavilability of medicinal plants, phytoconstituents traditional formulation.

Madhuchandra Lahan, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy, The Assam Kaziranga University presented researcher paper titled “Formulation and evaluation of curcumin and SiRNA co-loaded, LHRH conjugated PLGA nanoparticles for the targeted delivery to lung cancer”. During the presentation she has emphasised on nanoparticle-based formulation of curcumin that has high potential as an adjuvant therapy for clinical application in cancer. The multifunctional PLGA nanoparticles, co-loaded with curcumin and SiRNA and conjugated with LHRH, have the potential to enhance therapeutic outcomes while minimizing off-target effects.

Ms. Priyakshi Chutia and Ms. Kashmiri Sonowal, Assistant Professor, School of Pharmacy, The Assam Kaziranga University presented their research paper title “Therapeutic potential of Linalool Essential oil in Rheumatoid Arthritis: In silico, In vitro and In vivo investigations” The author stressed on The combination of in silico, in vitro, and in vivo investigations will contribute valuable insights into the mechanisms of action and safety profile of linalool, potentially paving the way for its development as a novel therapeutic agent for RA.

Ms. Parimita Kalita, Research Scholar of School of Pharmacy, The Assam Kaziranga University, presented a paper titled “Harnessing the therapeutic potential and recent dosage form developments of Cissus Quadrangularis. L”. Researcher emphasised on exploring the multifaceted therapeutic potential of Cissus quadrangularis, a medicinal plant known for its traditional uses in various cultures

Dhiraj Gogoi, Gulap Jaiswal, Sumitra Hazarika, Bagmeeta Dutta, Jahanabi Borah students of B. Pharm 7th semester School of Pharmacy, The Assam Kaziranga University presented their paper titled “The Effects of Cissus quadrangularis Extract on Accelerating Fracture Healing”. They have undertaken their research work under the guidance of   Rajesh E Jesudasan, Professor and Dean, Department of Pharmaceutics. This comprehensive investigation aims to provide valuable insights into the potential therapeutic benefits of Cissus quadrangularis extract in accelerating fracture healing. The combination of preclinical and clinical approaches will contribute to a better understanding of its efficacy, safety, and potential as an adjunctive treatment in promoting efficient bone repair.
