Two Days International Conference on Energy, Sustainability and Climate Change-2025

1.  Introduction

The Assam Kaziranga University successfully organized a Two-Day International Conference on Energy, Sustainability and Climate Change on 9th and 10th October 2025. The conference was conducted under the scheme of AICTE-Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages (VAANI). The VAANI initiative by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) aims to promote the use of Indian languages in technical and scientific education and to support the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The present conference was a significant step toward this vision, as it was conducted in the Assamese language, encouraging scientific communication and discourse in the regional context.

2.  Objectives of the Conference

The main objectives of the conference were:

  • To promote interdisciplinary discussions on sustainable energy systems and climate change
  • To encourage researchers to present and publish their work in
  • To provide a platform for academicians, scientists, and industry experts to exchange innovative ideas and collaborative opportunities in sustainability and climate studies.

3.  Inaugural Session

The Inaugural Session was graced by Professor Arupjyoti Choudhury, Vice-Chancellor of Madhabdev University, who delivered the Inaugural Address. The session also had the presence of Dr. Kartik Neog, Director, Central Muga Eri Research & Training Institute (CMER&TI), as a Guest of Honour. The inaugural function witnessed participation from distinguished academicians, researchers, and representatives from industry and research organizations across the region.

4.  Keynote Speakers

The conference featured eminent speakers from academia, research, and industry, including:

  • Kusum Kumar Bania (Tezpur University)
  • Palash Deb Nath (Assam Agricultural University)
  • Mantu Bhuyan (CSIR–NEIST, Jorhat)
  • Mukulesh Baruah (Assam Petrochemicals Limited, Namrup)
  • Shashanka Shekhar Borkotoky (Bureau of Indian Standards, BIS)
  • Shaswat Barua (Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bongaigaon)
  • Nabajyoti Saikia (The Assam Kaziranga University)

5.  Technical Sessions and Paper Presentations

Over the course of two days, the conference hosted more than 20 research paper presentations by scholars and professionals from diverse fields related to energy, sustainability, and climate change. The presentations highlighted regional and global perspectives on clean energy technologies, sustainable resource management, environmental conservation, and policy implications. A conference proceeding containing the abstracts and selected papers was published to commemorate the event.

6.  Outcome and Significance

The conference served as an excellent platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, fostering the exchange of ideas between academia and industry. It also demonstrated the potential of Indian languages—particularly Assamese—as a medium for high-level scientific discussion.

The event successfully highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability principles into education, research, and industrial practice, thereby aligning with the national agenda for Viksit Bharat 2047
