Workshop on Menstrual Health, Sanitation and Floods conducted by the School of Social Sciences

The School of Social Sciences of The Assam Kaziranga University, Jorhat, Assam organized a workshop on Menstrual Health, Sanitation and Floods in Assam in collaboration with Bodhona NGO and Women Cell, KU on 15th September 2022. The resource person of the workshop was Mr. Neilson Deb who is a social entrepreneur & Co - Founder of Bodhona NGO and Founder of  The Eco Hub. Ms Deb and his team interacted with the newly admitted as well as existing students from 11.00 AM onwards at the KU auditorium.

The workshop commenced with an introduction about The Eco Hub, a North-east based social enterprise that works with the marginalized women folk to produce sustainable sanitary products and to help economically weaker sections of women. In his talk Mr. Nelson highlighted how he and his team have been working towards improved Sanitation and Menstrual hygiene in the North-east of India by conducting awareness sessions, setting up functional toilets and eco-friendly menstrual waste management system, making biodegradable sanitary pads available, and installing manual pad vending machines and incinerators in schools, workplaces and public places, shelter homes etc. A short documentary on Tuloni Bia was also screened to create awareness on the said issues. The workshop ended successfully with an interactive question answer session.The program was coordinated by Dr Saurabhi Sarmah, Associate Professor, KUSSS.
