Kaziranga University marked Zubeen Garg’s 53rd Birthday with a meaningful blend of service, sustainability, and cultural celebration. Remembering the heartthrob of Assam and an icon of music and nature, the KU community came together for three purposeful initiatives that reflected his values and spirit.
The event took place on 18 November 2025 at the KU campus, organised by Marwari Yuva Manch in collaboration with the NSS Unit of KU, the Art & Culture Club, and the Creators Club.
Blood Donation Camp:
A blood donation camp, organised by Marwari Yuva Manch and the NSS Unit of KU, set the tone for the day. Students and faculty members stepped forward to donate blood, turning the tribute into an act of compassion and social responsibility.
Plantation Drive:
To honour Zubeen Da’s deep love for nature, the Art & Culture Club organised a plantation drive across the campus, led by Registrar Dr. Sumita Sarkar and Director of Student Welfare Dr. Saurabhi Sarmah. Joined by faculty members and students, they planted fresh saplings that symbolised growth, renewal, and the commitment to sustainability that Zubeen Da always championed.
Celebration Evening:
The day concluded with a vibrant celebration evening hosted by the Creators Club, where music, emotion, and togetherness filled the campus. More than 15 students sang Zubeen Da’s songs in multiple languages, accompanied by energetic dance performances dedicated to his timeless tracks. A beautiful diya installation spelling “ZG 53 BIRTHDAY” added to the ambience, while a heartfelt group rendition of Mayabini brought everyone together in remembrance. A dedicated Message Wall allowed students and faculty to pen their thoughts, memories, and wishes for Zubeen Da.
The atmosphere overflowed with warmth, nostalgia, and artistic energy, perfectly capturing the essence of his enduring legacy. It was a day filled with giving, growing, and celebrating, the true KU spirit.
“Zubeen Da’s spirit continues to inspire every heart he touched.”
